Message From The Asst. Vicar
My Dear Houston Immanuel MTC Family,
Greetings to you in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
As we reflect on Colossians 3:16-17, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly... and
whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus,”
we are reminded of the transforming power of God’s Word in our lives.
The story of Corrie Ten Boom and her family powerfully illustrates this truth. During
World War II, they risked their lives to hide Jews in their home in the Netherlands.
When they were eventually arrested and sent to the Ravensbrück concentration
camp, Corrie and her sister Betsie continued to share God’s love and forgiveness
with their fellow prisoners. Betsie’s unshakable faith inspired Corrie to trust in
God’s plan even amidst suffering. As God’s people, we are called to be His
witnesses. Although our circumstances may not always be favourable, God
continually gives us opportunities to share His love with the world.
I am deeply grateful for each of you—for your prayers, presence, and active
participation in the life of our church. Your faithfulness reflects the love of Christ
among us. Thank you for your support in various church activities, including VBS,
the Youth Retreat, the Blood Drive, the School of Gamaliel, and Parish Mission
classes.
I am happy that our children and youth are going to begin a new academic year, I
pray that it will be a blessed season filled with growth, wisdom, and achievement.
As we prepare for upcoming church events, including the visit of our Diocesan
Bishop and the celebration of First Communion, let us continue to uphold one
another in prayer. Aiden Wilson Tozer once wrote, “The church is not a gallery for
the exhibition of eminent Christians, but a school for the education of imperfect
ones” (The Pursuit of God). May we come together in faith and humility, seeking to
grow as a community united in Christ.
In the words of Martin Luther, “This life, therefore, is not righteousness, but growth
in righteousness; not health, but healing; not being but becoming.” May we
continue to grow as a healing community, striving daily to become more like Christ.
God bless us all
In His Ministry
John Wilson Achen
